Farran-Five — Alex Farran Signature T Set
Farran-Five — Alex Farran Signature T Set
Alex and I first started to chat in detail about pickups when he was looking to change the stock set in his oft-used ES335. After a very successful outcome on that front, we began to delve headlong into Telecasters!
Alex’ playing never ceases to amaze, regardless of what he’s using but it’s fair to say he’s perhaps most at home on his long-standing blackguard Tele. We tried a few sets to narrow down an ideal direction for his needs and preferences and once I felt I had a clear picture, I wound and sent him a set marked “Farran-Five”.
Alex’ first impressions were all I could ever have hoped for but of course we needed him to spend some time with them, play the set in all his typical situations and detail any tweaks that might have been needed. Some time later the final word came through “Stu!.. reckon these pickups are perfect.. can’t pick any possible faults or improvements out at all!”.
With that, I’m immensely proud to offer the Farran-Five Alex Farran Signature T Set. Clear, deeply responsive and slightly mid-scooped with extreme touch sensitivity.
BRIDGE AV +/- 6.9k: Utilising a copper plated steel baseplate, this pickup is a curious blend of early/mid 60s influenced wind and magnet combinations. Bright, biting twang but with an absence of any punishing upper mid sharpness and offering a hugely musical top/bottom combination. A pickup that rewards playing dynamics with instant response and clarity.
NECK AV +/- 5.3k: All the best elements of a great Tele neck pickup with hints of Strat but not crossing so far into that world as to lose what makes this pickup unique. Some lower midrange hollowness allows for greater clarity in this model and the thin, pure nickel cover helps keep low end muddiness to a minimum. A pickup at home in almost any musical situation where sweetness, definition and response are at the top of the requirements list.
This set is offered with a white cotton string wrap on the bridge pickup and a thin, transparent sounding nickel cover on the neck as standard, though other options are given in the drop down menu for your consideration. Flat or stagger on bridge available. These pickups are also lightly potted as standard and non-RWRP unless requested.
If you require a custom string wrap, different cover or any other tweak not offered directly on this page, please contact us via any of the methods shown here. We love to add personal touches to any of our pickups!
