Alex Hamilton Signature SB-PAF HUMBUCKER SET
Alex Hamilton Signature SB-PAF HUMBUCKER SET
Alex Hamilton first came to our attention via some of his amazing gear clips and excellent playing online and, to our delight he soon reached out to purchase a set of our PAF replicas! It quickly became clear that we shared many things in common when it came to tone-chasing and the fine details of pickups. He loved the first set he received and a couple of Strat sets later, he was looking for a further pair of SBPAFs for a newly acquired R9 Les Paul.
It was this rather excellent example of a CS Gibson that gave rise to this new addition to our range of Humbuckers. Alex wanted to delve even deeper in the quest for his perfect PAF and after testing every magnet option in different gauss levels, different mixtures of steel parts carbon contents, coil tensions etc these stunningly toneful pickups were finalized! The results simply had to be offered here as a further version of the SBPAF for our customers:
· BRIDGE AIII+/- 8.2K: A gloriously dynamic bridge pickup with huge amounts of detail and clarity but never at the expense of warmth or that vocal midrange PAF character. Alex was looking for a pickup that would be dynamic enough to track ever nuance of his expressive playing and let both himself and the nature of his guitar through. The perfect bridge PAF?
· NECK AIV +/- 6.9-7K: One of the clearest, most uncompressed and open neck humbuckers we have ever made. This is in part due to the slightly unusual use of a Alnico IV magnet but also the specific wind approach and mix of carbon content in the steel parts. Tuning this pickup to exactly Alex’ hopes wasn’t easy but, as you can hear in his demo below, we got there!
This set is offered as standard with two-conductor vintage braid wiring and thin nickel plated covers that are missing the copper plating layer so often found in modern pickups. If you would prefer four-conductor wiring or virtually any other tweak please do get in touch; various contact options are available here.
